I suppose I am artsy

Last year I took my first college art class and enjoyed it more than any other class. I learned shading and many different mediums. I even did paper mache. Here are some works of arts. I got to do lino cut and print making. I also did some charcoal art. Loved every minute

Apples

We brought my sister and adorable nephew to the apple orchard and picked apples for the first time. It was one of those great family outings. After we each picked our apples, we made apple pie

Jamaica

Last year we decided to go on our very first international trip. We worked with our travel agent and she suggested Jamaica. We went to an all inclusive resort called couples san souci. It was in ocho rios and was an experience of a life time.
We had breakfast every morning on the terrace and walked down to the beach. We would  kayak and lounge on the beach chairs. We visites Dunne River Falls where you walk up the falls through the rushing water. It was such a rush and unforgettable. We saw a caberet singer. I went snorkeling for first time in my life. It was terrifying but exhilarating.  For months after returning home whenever I would close my eyes I could picture the crystal ocean floor.
There was a moment that I will never forget and that was when we first got into the water, I was scared. I froze, it was the strangest feeling in the world. You have these finns but you can't touch the floor and I was scared.  Hubby yelled to me from where he was following a school of fish. He said "honey its ok! Just look down and I promise it will all be worth it!"
I did and it was so beautiful.  Completely breathtaking.  I will never forget that moment.

I'm back!!

Well it has been awhile. A few years I see and I am finally catching up. A hundred things have happened and I have plans for everything.  I will be posting a lot of things. Who knows what it could be.
And yes I am rhyming!

Calling all Flavors

The hubby and I have decided to start taking the steps in following our biggest dream which is opening a catering company . I have started the business plan and a Marketing Plan but we could not for the life of anything , come up with a name . The first name I thought of was "sweet pea catering " which in my personal opinion sounded pretty cliche and so we brainstormed . Our brainstorming subjects have mostly been mindless thoughts but this time we had a Goal!! We thought of these words that are listed below and tried to come up with a fun and unique name . something that says " we are fun and Inventive" .
After reading that last line I have to say that sentence was not very inventive .... ha

and so here is the list

Tasty
Delicious
Delectable
Celebrations
Fiesta
Family

Flavors
Feats
Entree
Dish
Celebrations
spices

some names that came of this were

Delectable dishes ...... terrible
Celebrations Flavors.............ehhh sort of cheesy
Fiest Feats ......... this one makes me laugh
Tasty Flavors ..............ha this is just the same thought
Family Fiesta Catering .... no , no and no

After a glass of wine and about a thousand more ideas ,
Matt says " we want it to be a family name "

Me " We are a family Mr. Call"

Matt " What about something that is connected to that? .. what about our names?"

Me " Call flavor company" giggles

Me " Calling all flavors " This being said in a pinched nose voice on a intercom (atleast I was pretending it was"

Matt " That's perfect !!"

Me "oh yea ! Your right "

and so a name is born to a company that we will be starting in a few years !

If Tim Burton made a Bunny ....

It Would look like this. This is Mon Mon's Easter gift from me. I know she loves Tim Burton films just like her mother and I thought this would be the perfect gift for her for Easter . This photo shows the work in progress but once it was completed I had all of my sister's friends asking me to make one

Sewing At last

I have decided to learn some useful skills in my free time . Matt suprised me with a brand new sewing machine as a late Valentines Day gift . It has proven to be quite useful and very entertaining .

This is the first purse I have ever made , so it is not perfect but I absolutely love the pattern

Here on the right , I sewed a curtain for our window , just to add some color to our set up

Car #2

Okay so I know this is not the same car as you see in my previous post but here is the story . We had brought the "old" car to have the bumper reattached and fix the damage that was done by the accident and with in a few hours of dropping it off, we received a call notifying us that the car was a lost cause and deemed totaled because the frame has to be realigned . So to our suprise the insurance company refunded us the value of the oldsmobile and we had purchased a new car with in a week . This is our new car . It is a 2002 Chevy Imapala . A full tank lasts 3 weeks ! I don't know much about cars but I say this one is a keeper .

We got a car ! well sort of ...

We bought our first car , it only took 6 years for us to want a car but we have one now . We got a great deal . It is an 1999 Oldsmobile Alero and was in great condition . Key word being "was" . We bought the car on Friday the 13th of November . We thought we would be bold and go against superstition , which worked out well for the first week but then on the 21st , we had an accident . Matt was pulling out of his parking space at the local Cumberland Farms and had stopped to let a driver go on to the next parking spot , but this driver did not pay attention and did not slow down . Still going 25 , he hit the rear bumper , pretty much took it off and smashed our right rear light . The guy gave Matt false info and now the authorities have to review the surveliance tapes to find his plate number . Basically it is a hit and run . What luck huh? Now , I am a little superstitious and we are stuck with out a car until we hear from the authorities , if they have found anything . The car now looks like this .

Halloween Night

This year we decided to dress as comic book and video game characters . I was Princess Kitana from Mortal Kombat . She is a ninja princess . Matt was Wolverine from X-men . A weird combination for a couple but it works.

We decided to carve pumpkins this year and they ended looking really good .

I carved a Vampire and his female victim . You have to focus on the negative color to really see it

Matt made a crazy bat with a moon on the side .

My outlet of creativity

I started painting about five years ago , mostly just for fun . I have never taken any painting courses or classes . I just paint whatever I feel. I never really start off with an idea . Anyway I thought I would post my latest works of art for everyone to see .

This one I started way at the beginning of the wedding planning process . It originally was just going to be a swee

t simple bride with her groom and a calm background but with all of the emotions and stress the planning process has , I just went crazy with color . I finished this painting the night after our small backyard ceremony . A few things I do remember are

- the sky with the stars represents chasing down your dreams

- the wings to me show , that you are soaring together as high as you want . Meaning you can reach any height (goal) together

- the range of colors represent emotions . Shades of blue (sadness) (serenity) , red (anger or frustration) , Purple (passion ) , green (calm) and every emotion between

This one is called "The outsider's looking glass"

This is really just one of those creepier paintings . Of a person being masked by their emotions . It's really about some one I know , who hides everything and lets these emotions boil into something darker and more sinister .

I haven't come up with a name for this yet but its just about life and the many experiences that make you who you are

Honeymoon In Orlando FL

At first we wanted to travel some place more exotic but with the economy as bad as it is we decided to travel to a place that could feel like Hawaii but not cost as much as Hawaii . We stayed at the Royal Pacific Resort in Orlando FL which was on sight with Universal studios

The Resort had many activities and events set up for their guests and we had a blast . It was set up like a Hawaiin get away and even included a Luau which was a great experience . The luau had a Hawaiin Buffet along with a Hawaiin band that actually played a Hawaiin love song for us . It was a such a treat. We had roasted pork , Mai Tai drinks and a few exotic dishes .

Half way through the fire dancers performance , they had a few guests jump on stage to dance with the dancers. They had Matt go on stage to dance with the Hula Girls , it was very funny

One of the shows that we attended was The Blue Man Group performance . We had never been to a show of theirs and it was definitely an interesting yet entertaining experience . We had a photo taken with one of them and have all three of their handprints in a photo book.

We had an amazing time in Orlando and plan to go back in the future sometime . The shows were quite the experiences and the rides were fun . The resorts hospitality was a nice suprise . The minute we arrived we were upgraded to a complimetary King suite . We received numerous free deserts from different restaurants including Emerils. It was a memorable experience .

Newly Wedded Bliss

As of this Monday , It will be five months that we have been married . The wedding reception went off without a hitch. We couldn't have asked for a more wonderful day. We have posted a few snapshots for those of you that could not make it up.

The reception was held at the Saint Johns Club in Burlington. We had a less traditional celebration with a few tweeks in some traditions . Instead of having everyone clinking their glasses to see us kiss , we took a more creative approach. We made a list of outrageously funny tasks to be done to see a kiss , a few were sing the spongebob squarepants theme, act out a proposal (which some seemed too real) and this list went on . The great thing is that everyone did these things . it made for memorable moments and priceless displays of comedic acts . For favors we decided to bake a few hundred mini blueberry muffins because it held a special place with us. When we first started dating, Matt would bring me blueberry muffins when he would come home from work which at the time was Dunkin' Donuts . Thats actually where we met as well :D

The cake which , I had designed and Angels Cakes of South Burlington had carried out , with a few creative touches of their own . The White butterflies are for my Uncle Freddy who passed away a few years back, because whenever I had thought of him after his passing , I would see white butterflies . The Cake decorator really did do a wonderful job. The flavor was maple with strawberry fruit filling and creamcheese frosting .

Everything came together perfectly and was truly a memorable celebration <3
